Bloomingdales Friends & Family Presale

Pre-sale for the upcoming Bloomingdales friends and family has started. The sale officially begins next Monday --March 31-- but those in the know can start pre-saling their purchases in the store now. The discount is 25% off fashion and home and 20% off jewelry. Online shoppers will be able to use the code FRIENDS once the sale goes live, next week.

In the past, the exclusions haven't been too extensive. Designer collections, beauty and fragrance are never included in the promotion. Although the discount can't be applied to beauty purchases there is usually a gift with purchase incentive.

Bloomingdales can be frustrating to shop. There is never anyone at a register when you need to get out fast. We have really started to love the option of shopping online and using in-store pickup. On product pages you can sort according to "In-Store Pickup" and all your purchases will be pulled and waiting for you at the customer service department on the 3rd floor. Once you get there, you can try everything on and just take the items you like. This service has become so popular that the Lexington Avenue store has extended pickup hours from 6am to midnight.

The friends and family promotion runs through Sunday, April 9 and the discount can also be applied to sale items. This classic Theory dress will come to $370 from $1200, a leather jacket from Maje will also be about $370 from $945 and a very pretty mixed media lace blouse from Elie Tahari is $325 from $620.

Vestiaire's Ultimate Spring Closet Detox

We can't complain too much about the weather this past Winter but we are very excited that it's officially Spring. Warm weather, open-toe shoes and getting rid of a heavy overcoat is all we need to be happy. (Well, almost.)

As we prepare for the bi-annual wardrobe shift, it's become apparent that adding a single item to our closets will be nearly impossible. This is the perfect time of year for a Spring closet detox. The experts at the international luxury marketplace, Vestiaire Collective, have everything you need to make this vernal shift.  (You can click here to see the detailed Vestiaire closet detox guide.) It all starts with sorting your closet into three categories:

Sell:
This category consists of the coveted pieces that doesn’t fit your style, the sky-high heels that are painful to walk in, the impulse buy that really triggered instant buyer’s remorse. These are some of the items you’ve been meaning to get rid of but just haven’t gotten around to yet.

Keep:
Gather the items that fit and you’re excited to wear again. Organize this pile in your closet so you can see and easily retrieve all key pieces clearly.

Maybe:
The maxi dress everyone has already seen you wear, the designer jeans that don’t exactly fit, do you know why you’re keeping these pieces? This is the hardest category to mitigate but there is a handy checklist will help you decide if its worth keeping or time to let go. Some questions you can ask yourself include: Having I worn this item in the past 6 months? Does it fit? Would I buy it again?

Once you have that pile together, you can easily download the Vestiaire app and start selling away that pile. It's really as easy as snapping a picture. The App even has a price resale calculator to help guide your pricing. Our favorite part is that Vestiaire accepts vintage items and a larger variety of brands than other luxury resale sites. Even better, when there is an online promotion, Vestiaire will absorb the discount and your commissions won't be effected.

Once you have all that extra room in your closet and some extra cash, you can shop guilt free. Some items we are hunting for include, a denim trench, a new moto jacket from either Balenciaga or Off-White and something fantastically Dior to toast my inner princess.

The IT-it: The Manicure 💅 That Will Make You Happy

A great fashion purchase can be uplifting but the right manicure can have similar powers. LeChat's Perfect Match Mood Gel Polish is quite literally is a mood changer.

This high-tech thermo sensitive polish transforms color according to temperature. One moment your nails can be teal blue and the next, a light lavender. The transition from one color to the other is the most intriguing. The ombre effect during the color change is as delightful. It's hard to keep yourself from checking and the activity is quite amusing.

LeChat's Perfect Match Mood Polish comes in 60 colors, including Crimson Nightfall that changes from red to black, Sunset Beach that changes from orange to a misty-rose and, our favorite, Trissie that goes from a deep violet to a light lavender. The gel polishes can be found on Amazon and ranges in price from $13 to $15 a bottle, depending on the seller.

If you're not someone who likes to commit to a gels, LeChat also offers standard color changing polish ($10). The colors are nearly identical to the gel options.

Its hard to understate how much we've loved wearing this polish. You can bet it's going to be a major part of our Summer rotation. A special shout-out to Elvira for sharing your secret manicure 💅.

Presale: Saks Friends & Family Sale

The Saks Fifth Avenue friends and family sale doesn't start for about a week but all good customers know that the best merchandise is snatched up during the presale period. The sale officially runs from Wednesday, March 21 through Sunday, April 2.

This season, the discount will be 25% off a selection of clothing, shoes and accessories. Jewelry will be discounted 20%. Instead of listing hundreds of designer exclusions and creating a special code, Saks essentially created a friends and family sale section on the website.

Some of the designer-y brands we expect to be included are Edie Parker, Les Petits Joueurs, Nancy Gonzalez and Anya Hindmarc. Among the shoes, we suggest going for Charlotte Olympia, Chiara Ferragni or something quirky from Alice & Olivia.

It's much harder to speculate about what designer fashions might be included in the sale. It's safe to suspect that most contemporary brands will be participating. We are hoping that some of the new emerging street wear brands, like Off-White, will be included in the promotion.

If you're a point collector, you should take note that designers not included in the sale will be eligible for triple points. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the friends and family inclusions are plentiful. For now, stay tuned for this evolving story.

Tibi's Online Sample Sale

Happy first day of Spring!

What better way to tick off the new season than to take advantage of sample sale that doesn't require you to move an inch. Tibi is hosting its first online sample sale where prices are discounted up to 80% off.

Some of our favorite items include an Italian shearling aviator jacket that's reduced to $1128 from $2800, wide legged leather pants are $239 from almost $1200 and a Pantone green knit sweatshirtt is $98 from $400.

More suited for Spring, is this off-the-shoulder blouse that's $100 from $345. There is also a pair of smoking slippers from Tibi's collaboration with Del Toro that's $200 from $365.

This sale is for only a few days and ends Thursday at midnight. We are a little disappointed there aren't more of Tibi's signature dresses but at least there aren't any traditional sample sale lines.

Barneys Sale: We Cracked the Code

Barneys removed the link to their seasonal markdown several weeks ago but some sly searching proves that the sale merchandise is still available for purchase online. Some items are discounted as much as 75% off. You can use this link to see for yourself.

The best markdowns are the clothing, of course. This Sies Marjan pencil skirt is $250 from $990 and a Saint Laurent floral print dress is $600 from $2450. Among the shoes we found these Aquazzura flats for $260 from $700 and Marséll wedge ankle boots for $400 from $990.

This gold garland that's just $38 from $128 is perfect for festival season or August in Greece. Two of the most unexpected finds are this men's Moncler jacket for $790 from $1300 and a fringed Saint Laurent bucket bag for $859 from $2150.

You'll see that the selection isn't vast but it might be worth your while to bookmark the page. It's always nice to have back door VIP access.

Forzieri Warehouse Sale 70% Off

European online luxury store, Forzieri is hosting a warehouse sale where many items are reduced 70% off. The sale includes an assortment of shoes, accessories and home decor items for men and women.

Among the most heavily reduced sale items are lots of shoes from Balmain, Charlotte Olympia, Pucci and Oscar de la Renta. Balmain suede pumps are $474 from almost $1600, red leather Pucci ankle boots with a mirror heel are $325 from nearly $1100 and a favorite style Charlotte Olympia ankle boots with gold stars are $276 from $900.

Surprisingly enough, there are a considerable amount of bags that also reduced to 70%. This Roberto Cavalli lightning clutch is $288 from $960, an Olympia Le-Tan 'I Need All the Friends I Can Get' bag is $580 from almost $2000, a Pierre Hardy messenger bag is $418 from $1400. Elena Ghisellini is one of our favorite bag designers and her iconic Felina bag is reduced to $400 from $800.

You can save an additional 15% if you're a new Forzieri customer (or if you register your purchase with a new email address). If you're shopping for Spring, the full price collection are 20% off. The Outnet Blowout Gets Even Better

Last week, we reported that The Outnet was clearing out old merchandise in a super online blowout sale. Today, the sale got even better and additional discounts bring some items to nearly 90% off retail.

The inventory is very limited. We find it's easiest to browse through this mega-sale by sorting for your individual shoe or clothing size. Some of our favorite items include a Delpozo mini-dress dress (size FR42) that's $275 from $2500, a Mary Katrantzou sequined dress (UK 8 & UK 12) that's $424 from $3860 and a Missoni dress (IT 40) that's $262 from $2390.

Among the shoes, Chloe python boots (34, 40.5 & 41.5) have been further reduced to $318 from $2120, Tabitha Simmons sandals (35.5 & $665) are only $100 from $665 and Malone Souliers booties (40.5) are $157 from $1050. You need to grab these Prada flats if you fit in a 37.5 or these Alexander Wang sandals if you're a size 39.5.

The sale ends Thursday (March 16). If the shoe, dress, pants or skirt fits-- buy it now!
Thank you for the sharp eye, Lauren!

Ralph Lauren Friends & Family 30% Off

Ralph Lauren started a friends & family sale today that will run through Thursday, March 23. The markdown is 30% and includes regular and sale priced merchandise. The promotion is only online and you will need to use the code FRIENDS to engage the discount.

Take note, that the discount is not applicable to the Ralph Lauren's higher end brands like, Purple Label and the Collection. Among the items that you can apply the savings are these leather leggings that come to about $700 from nearly $1000, a two-tone leather jacket that's already discounted 50% and after the promotional discount comes to $525 from $1500 and a big pony polo that is $27 from $115.

We often having the best luck using this type of sale to restock men's basics and start getting the kids ready for camp. Here are classic polo's for guys, in a variety of colors, that come to just $20 from $90 and this big pony style polo is $25 from $110. For boys, here are classic belted shorts for $25, joggers for $18 and $8 tees. For girls', there are a lot of preppy dress but we really love these gold cowboy boots that come to about $50 from nearly $200.

Considering these prices, it's hard to even justify shopping for Ralph Lauren at a discount store. We just wish they would be a little more transparent about the difference between each line. It's very confusing to even the savviest customer.

Net-A-Porter Secret Discount Code

It's cold and wet outside, Bergdorf Goodman is closed but we have the perfect snow day activity. Net-A-Porter just gave their top customers a secret code, which can save you 10% on almost everything on the site. Just use the code SPRING when checking out. The best part is that there are hardly any restrictions!

Speaking of Spring, as the snow melts we are optimistically looking forward to some new trends. One set of items that are on our must-have list are floral sandals. Some of our favorites include these Fendi slides with floral appliqué details ($900), Prada sandals with flower appliqués ($990) and these cactus heels ($480) from the Man Repeller collaboration.  We also really like these Sam Edelman floral print bright orange slides ($100).

The easiest way to build a seasonal wardrobe is to concentrate on a color. Pink has been going strong since last year and we wouldn't hesitate adding more to your collection. This pink grecian Norma Kamali off-the-shoulder jersey dress ($185) easily transitions from city streets to poolside or beach. We also love this Miu Miu pink blouse ($895) that has a bit of Western detailing. Give your next business presentation in this Haider Ackermann satin deep pink suit ($1400 for the blazer). It's killer. A Rachel Zoe suit is a less expensive option but-- is the color a little bubblegum?

We are sure you'll have no problem finding your own favorites for Spring. This 10% discount code is only valid until March 20. Although the discount isn't super high, we will accept it as gift. After all, the next big markdown isn't until the end of May.

Spring Denim Trends: From Patchwork Denim to Acid Wash

Good jeans are invaluable. The funny thing is that good jeans never seem to stay good for more than a year. The speed at which denim trends change is incredible and keeping up can be daunting.

We would never endorse buying jeans at full price but have come to accept that anything under $200 is a good price -- especially if you will wear them several times a week. The transitional season is a good time to start shopping for the denim styles you want while your size is still in stock. We suggest adding your favorite style to the cart and waiting for a good friends & family sale. Bloomingdales' friends & family sale is usually at the end of March and ShopBop runs a big site-wide discount promotion in early April.

Patchwork Blue
One of the biggest trends for Spring is the multi-tonal jean. A patchwork of different color blues making a big splash. Since they aren't ripped, the look isn't as messy as many distressed denim styles but the look is still very casual and relaxed. Some of our favorite styles are below.

Wide-leg Crop
The flared cropped jean isn't all new but this season that flare is growing to a wide-leg. We especially like the versions with a wide dark hem. This style jean looks best with a stylish shoe (like a Gucci slide) or a pointed boot that clear the hem. Check out these styles:

Colored Jeans
It seems like colored denim goes from being hot one season to cheesy the next. This season--you got it-- it's hot. Blush in particular happens to be the color de jour.

Super bleached
Acid wash will always be a nostalgic look from the 80s and 90s but super bleached is just about as classic. Why not pull out a vintage heavy metal tee and a just-don't-care attitude? We just suggest staying away from the acid washed blond hair. That's a look we don't need to resurrect.

First Class Upgrade: Tumi 19 Degree Suitcase 20% Off

The fashion industry has suddenly put a lot of emphasis is put on travel outfits. We believe that traveling with the right luggage is a lot more important than choosing the right fedora.

Tumi's new 19-Degree collection is truly a showstopper. 19 Degree is Tumi’s first aluminum offering and is clearly designed to go head-to-head with Ramowa. The distinctive contoured lines, highlight the profile of the suitcase and give it sense of fluidity. The final look is fashion, art and design. It is a sure upgrade to most anything else on the market.

The best part is that everything Tumi is 20% off at Saks Fifth Avenue. Color options include silver, black, matte black, copper and Glacier, which is a steele blue. Normally the bags range in price from $600 for a carry-on to $1395 for an extended-trip size in aluminum. The discount brings the prices to $475 for the carry-on to $1116 for the biggest size in aluminum. Take note, that the aluminum is priced almost twice as high as the polycarbonate.

Like most women, we aren't light packets and suggest getting the 'Extended Packing Trip' and a 'Short Packing Trip' size. This combination gives you lots of options-- you can take both bags or only one. On bigger trips we suggest taking both to make sure your big bag doesn't go over weight. It's always nice to have a second back to redistribute your belongings.

So now, where should we go???

The OutNet Blowout 85% Off

Twice a year, The Outnet cleans out it's designer closet with blowout prices. Surprise! The sale started today and there are so many amazing deals at 85% off that we don't know what to choose.

Where do we start? Here is a Cucinelli coat reduced to $840 from $5500, a Chloe tweed coat for $430 from $2900 an alpaca trimmed coat from Dorrinton that's $600 from $4000 and a Proenza white leather biker jacket with black zippers is $400 from $2650. Clearly this mild winter was problematic for coat sales. Next year, we might not be so lucky.

There are so many shoes that it's best just to sort by your size. If you're a size 9 go for these Lanvin suede boots for $270 from $1350, berry Casadi suede pumps for $123 or Prada flats for $385. Need sneakers? These Nike's are $23 from $130. We also noticed a large assortment of Christian Louboutin shoes that aren't in the clearance sale but they are reduced 40% to 50% off.

We've always been very impressed by the quality and styling of The Outnet's in-house label, Iris & Ink. The sale makes these classic wardrobe basics nearly irresistible. Take these high-rise denim jeans that are now priced at $62 from $155. The original price was reasonable enough but stylish jeans for $63 is remarkable. Here is a cashmere sweater for $82. (We have one already and love it.) This muted pink gilet for $180 can be great for Spring. Black ankle boots for $122 or suede over-the-knee boots for $160 are a no-brainer...you get the point.

There is an abundance of designer frocks listed in the clearance section. Some of our favorites include, a Roksanda a-line skirt that's $270 from $1345, an embellished Pucci dress is $360 from $2400 and this Roland Mouret mini-dress is a must-have for $225 from $1500.

There aren't many great bags in the sale but here is a  fascia Saint Laurent Boston-type bag for 50% off or go for an Anya Hindmarch 'Hubba Bubba' clutch for 80% off.

This is one of those sales that serves as proof that it doesn't necessarily need to cost a fortune to look fantastically chic. We suggest you hurry and shop. As we are writing the post, the site was getting increasingly slow, which means it's inundated with shoppers.

Neiman Marcus: Extra 20% Off Clearance

Neiman Marcus started an online promotion where many sale items are reduced an extra 20% off. The big treat is that the online clearance section is filled with great designer items that could be perfect for Spring.

Upon browsing, we found a Marni blouse that's about 80% off now and perfectly on trend with ruffles along the trim. Here's a Victoria Beckham bustier top that's also 80% off and comes to $285 from $1430 and these designer track pants with orange and white racing strips are an excellent find for just $233 from $1170. They are just too good to resist.

The discount among the shoes isn't quite as high but it still makes sense to cherry pick among the Spring and Summer styles. A white Gianvito Rossi d'Orsay pump is $330 from $830, Aquazzura's iconic rainbow striped suede sandals are $277 from about $700 and these Aquazzura suede candies-like sandals are $340 from $850.

The promotion started today and only runs through Thursday. Neiman Marcus doesn't do these extra 20% off sales too often. We suggest you take advantage while the opportunity presents itself. It's quite the treat to shop for the upcoming season from a selection discounted merchandise that's this good.

Wolford Sample Sale: Getting a Leg Up

Wolford's hosiery and tights are lauded for their fine fit and modern designs. The quality is known for being outstanding and the styling is always at the forefront of fashion. At the same time, they are often four times the price of most hosiery brands.

Today, the Wolford sample sale opened its doors at the 260 Sample Sale space was buzzing with excitement as women of all ages and sizes sifted through neatly arranged bins of leg wear. Prices start at $18 tights and stockings with retail values under $100. More expensive tights are $45. Are the stockings and 'stay ups' that are $15. (Good luck trying to stay up. We've never had luck with any brand.) Styles range from sheer stockings to the most current trend of oversized fishnets. You can click over this way to see pictures of some of the stocking styles available at the sale.

Beyond the leg wear, the sale includes a variety of undergarments, bras, panties, shareware and lingerie. There is also many racks of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories. The shapewear skirts and tops are $55, bodies are $75 and dresses are $95. Ready-to-wear is a straight 75% off retail.

We are huge believers of stocking up on, well, stockings when a discount opportunity presents itself. At $18 a pair, however, we didn't feel very inclined to completely restock our dwindling tights and stocking inventory. You can regularly find similar pricing on luxury leg wear at discount stores like Century 21, TJ Max or Off Fifth. At 75% off the ready-to-wear is also not very attractive and the merchandise found in a boutique's bin and priced at $5 an item.

By no means are we saying that there aren't a lot of great pieces to pick up. We just think the pricing is a tad too high for a big stock up . Stay tuned for markdowns. We'll be sure to update the main sample sale page as discounts occur.

Barneys Gift Card Promotion

Hey, big spenders. Barneys is looking to entice you into pulling the trigger on that item you've been eyeing. Right now, you can earn a $250 gift card for every $2000 you spend on women’s ready-to-wear, jewelry, accessories, and shoes.

The best part is that there doesn't seem to be any exclusions. So you can shift your shopping into high gear. Gift cards are only redeemable from March 13, 2017 through April 16, 2017. So don't forget to use them!

We have entered into a bag fatigue zone and there aren't many handbag styles that can get us excited. One exception is the Delvaux collection, which could earn you a few of those gift cards! Other than that, we would be pretty happy to carry our purchases out in just about anything.

Jewelry. Let's talk about jewelry. Check out this ring from Spinelli Kilcolli ($2000) that consists of three linked gold bands or Pamela Love sapphire hoops ($3000). The bottom line is that if you're going to spend thousands it should really be something you can wear daily and for many years.

The gift card promotion is available at Barneys stores nationwide, on the website and at BarneysWarehouse. (Select items are now an extra 50% off at the online outlet store!)

Be warned, however, Barneys will most likely not extend the dates if the cards aren't used during the specified window of time. The promotion runs through March 12, so be sure to enjoy a meal at Freds and go back next week to use those gift cards!
